Walmart Joy Shops Experience

From a never-been-done AR experience to an experiential world that brought the universal joy of holiday magic to life, we helped every Walmart consumer live the 2021 campaign — Joy.Fully — across every platform.

 We partnered with Facebook to launch a first-to-market AR lens retail experience, which combined facial-recognition AR with Walmart’s top gifts. Customers used the interactive experience to browse holiday gift ideas from Walmart’s top partner brands, using nothing but their facial expressions to identify which items spark joy for them. Then, directly from the AR lens, customers can visit Walmart’s Gift Finder experience to shop for those products and more.

We created 5 different experiences featuring top gifts within each category. Each user experience resulted in a uniquely curated gift list that drove directly to our holiday shopping page on Walmart.com.

As the first shoppable AR experience of its kind, the Joy Shops brought some positive press to our Joy.Fully campaign.

We made simple holiday joy unmissable for shoppers at Walmart’s largest store, with a parking lot experience. The JoyGlobes each contain a bit of holiday magic powered by a Walmart partner — a photobooth that developed holiday portraits, a gift-o-matic where customers could choose from a selection of last-minute gifts, dispensed and wrapped in real-time, and a hot cocoa factory, melting chocolate and dispensing warm mugs of cocoa.
